There have been reports and complaints about the working of wifi on HTC Evo 4G, so guys at AndroidCentral have performed a little test to find out what’s the difference between the wifi speed and coverage of Droid, Nexus One and Evo 4G. They have used Wifi Analyzer app that is available in the Android Market. Check out what they found out by performing this test.

Looking at the above results clearly indicate that there is a big difference in the working of Wifi of the three discussed models. Apart from all other features Wifi of HTC Evo 4G has not impressed a lot of people and we can’t say that if it is a hardware issue or they can fix it with a software update. Only time will tell.

Apple revealed its latest iPhone officially at WWDC 2010. The phone has proven itself to be the best iPhone ever produced. The new design, upgraded camera, faster processor, and thousands of apps, this iPhone has everything that is required for anyone to buy this phone. The new iPhone 4 features a lot of new and upgraded features and we will have a close look at them in this post in detail.

3.5-inch screen

24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS

3.5 inch mm headset jack

iOS

Apple renamed the iPhone OS to iOS at WWDC10 to make it more comfortable to fit it in other devices such as iPods, iPads and other possibilities of the future and a lot of new features have been added to this operating system to make it run with the new iPhone 4 as smoothly as it should. The big additions to this operating system Apple has recently made are multitasking, folders, iBooks, along with user-defined wallpapers, Mail’s new unified inbox, Bluetooth keyboard support and a lot more.

Battery life

Speaking of battery life, iPhone has proved itself to be counted among the best, with talk time upto 7 hours on 3G and 14 hours on 2G and a standby time of 300 hours iPhone makes it last long on a single recharge and don’t forget that the device also offers 6 hours of 3G internet use and 10 hours of Wifi fun. Video playback: Up to 10 hours. Audio playback: Up to 40 hours.

Capacity and Pricing

iPhone 4 will be available in two different storage capacities that a 16Gb and a 32Gb model that are priced at $199 and $299 respectively.

Design

Although iPhone 4 features the same native iPhone look but its different from the older phones. It has a unique shape and size and is termed as the slimmest iPhone ever. The iPhone 4 is just barely heavier than the 3GS at 4.8 ounces then 4.76 ounces, but it’s is significantly thinner (9.3mm vs. 12.3mm) and a is a bit narrower (58.6mm vs. 62.1mm).

Retina Display

Steve Jobs mentioned an all-new “Retina Display” for the iPhone 4. But do you know what exactly is a “Retina Display?” Apart from a marketing buzzword, it’s essentially a high-end screen with four times as many pixels in the same screen real estate. So it allows you to zoom on images and text and see the things more clearly than ever before.

Camera

The new iPhone 4 features a 5 Mega-Pixel camera and Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio. Apple has finally added the HD recording feature to the iPhone and it was looking awesome in the demo should by Steve Jobs at the event.

Processor

iPhone is now powered by a A4 Chip that is also found in the iPad. Its a powerful chip that itself is a tighter package that uses less power while running faster than the processor in the 3GS.

Sensors

The new iPhone 4 has a gyroscope built-in. This means that it can track movement with a very high precision, much higher than the built-in accelerometers in the previous iPhones. It’s 3-axis, so it’s capable of detecting pitch, roll, and yaw. Couple with the accelerometer, you have 6-axis motion sensing that would make motion sensor gaming a lot more fun.

Apps and Games

Apple iPhone 4 runs the same OS as of the previous iPhone 3GS so all the older titles would work on it making it compatible to thousands of quality apps and games already available to download.

Steve Jobs told at the beginning of his keynote that he is going to discuss only 8 features of the new iPhone 4 out the total 100.

The first one is the one about which we already knew that is “an all new design.”

Second: this is a biggie. Something that they have called the retina display.

Whats this? Here’s the answer: “But if you do a little work and put in higher resolution artwork, they’ll look stunning — so we suggest you do that. … We think this is going to set the standard for displays for years to come. It may be the most important single component of the hardware, and we’ve got something here now that’s like the best window on the planet. So that’s the Retina Display

Third: the iPhone 4 is powered by the A4. It’s designed by Apple’s own team, and it’s wonderful to have on the iPhone.”

Four: “We’ve tied the gyro, accelerometer, and GPS for 6-axis motion sensing. It’s perfect for gaming — and one of the reasons it’s perfect is because it’s built into every iPhone 4, so you know it’s there.”

Number five. This is a great one. A whole new camera system built into iPhone 4.”

Six: iPhone OS4. The most advanced mobile OS in the world.”

“We’re renaming it! We’re taking away the phone! iOS4.”

Number seven: iBooks. We are bringing it to the iPhone.”-As excepted

Number eight: iAds. Why are we doing iAds? For one simple reason: to help our devs earn money so they can continue to create free and low-cost apps for users.”

Tried Android 1.6 on your iPhone, if yes then here’s another task that you should perform with your iPhone, its Android 2.2 Froyo that has been ported to the iPhone and you can see the demonstration below in the video. Its not working as good as Android 1.6 did at least for now but we might see a fix to that soon. Wifi is also an issue as Android 2.2 is not running iPhone’s wifi at the moment and there are problems with audio as well.

Interested in porting Android 2.2 Froyo to your iPhone?

Well at your own risk here is the link to the guide that tells you how to do this

Own a Moto Droid? Then here’s a news that is good and tasty. Android 2.2 Froyo has been ported on Motorola’s Droid. Droid is one of the most successful Android phone and now it has got Android 2.2 update. MyDroidWorld has posted about this on their forum with download links for you to download the Rom. One bad thing is that wifi is not working at least for now and we hope that it gets fixed as soon as possible.

We do not recommend you to update but what we think is you should wait for the official update that might come soon or you should wait for the Wifi fix if you are use to it. ROM is already rooted with new SuperUser installed.

Facebook has released SDK for Android. The Official Facebook SDK for Android developers was released yesterday, that will allow communication between native Android apps and the Facebook social network. One feature that the Android edition of the SDK has that the iPhones version lacks is the Graph API that was displayed at Facebook’s f8 developer’s conference. The Android SDK also includes the latest installment of OAuth authentication, version 2.0, which enables the user to publish stories to Facebook via Feed forms. SDK will give Android developers even more room to develop and explore new horizons.
