CNET Asia has reported that a Sony Ericsson spokesman has said that the Xperia X10 will get updated to the “Eclair variant” of Android so “it could be 2.1 or even 2.2″ by the end of the year. The Android-based Xperia phones may get updated to Android 2.2 from their current Android 1.6 software in the second half of the year. If this is a confirmed news then Xperia X10 would be the first phone to get the update but the real question is when this phone is going to be available as no date has been given for this phone’s release. We saw this phone at MWC this year in Barcelona along with the X10 mini and X10 mini pro.

TigerText is an App for iPhone that is very useful for those who send secret messages to their friends, business partners, girlfriends etc. What this app does is when you send a message from your iPhone you set time for that message to be deleted from your iPhone as the well as receiver’s iPhone.

TigerText lets users set a time limit for text messages and when the time limit is over, the messages will be deleted and be wiped from the your iPhone, the receiving iPhone, and the server. The app itself is free to try (the first 100 messages in 15 days are free, and it’s always free to read messages), and only $1.49 per 250 messages sent per month ($2.49 per month for unlimited messages) after that.

After downloading you are required to sign up for an account (it sends a confirmation to your number), and then you can start sending self-destructing messages right away. It is necessary for the recipient to download and run the same app for the thing to work on his phone.

The messages are never saved on your phone, the recipient’s phone, or,  your carrier’s database, they are only saved on the TigerText server, which the vendor reports is purged every minute of the day.

TigerText is currently available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and is coming soon to Blackberry and Android platforms.

According to a rumor coated by Wall Street Journal Sony is interested in taking down some of the Apple’s products and Windows Phone 7 series. For this Sony will be releasing its candidates this year and that would be long awaited PSPhone and a multimedia tablet. This will be an answer to Apple iPhone’s gaming capabilities and Windows Phone 7’s Xbox integration by Microsoft. According to the rumor Sony would releasing a phone and a tablet ( that would be against the iPad) as Sony is reportedly working on a portable multimedia device bundled with online services that will rival the iPad.

The bulk of the games available through the Online Service will be recycled PlayStation games and will be made available to wide range of portable and mobile devices. We can also expect ultimate multimedia capabilities from these devices for music, movies, e books and much more.

Finally the Swype beta for Android devices is officially available. Swype is a keyboard app using which you can type without lifting your finger from the screen, a best feature is that it put the space between words automatically. Initially the Swype beta is available to limited number of participants and soon it will be available to all Android users. Swype beta works for both WVGA and HVGA  resolutions. One of the many problems Nexus One is facing includes multitouch performance. Guys at Android and Me have noted that Nexus One’s multitouch performance is not up to the mark so they decided to compare it with Motorola Droid that is also powered with Android.

This is what they have noted

The Nexus One performs perfectly fine when used for pinch zoom implementations, but it struggles in other situations. When two fingers are placed close to each other or they cross the same axix, the data points get flipped. This is a major problem for games that use multitouch and I have experienced them first hand with Polarbit games like ToonWarz.

When same tasks were performed on Motorola Droid, they found nothing wrong with it. Droid performed as it should but Nexus One has to experiance some bugs on it.

“Sorry I meant exactly what I said: this is how the touch screen hardware on the Nexus One works (which is essentially the same screen as on the G1 and myTouch).  The Droid has a sensor from a different manufacturer, with different behavior.  Other phones will likewise have different sensors.”

Above is the statement by Dianna Hackborn, a Google engineer, who posted the above response on the official Android Developers group.

Leaked images of the yet unannounced HTC Incredible have been spotted on Twitter. These are leaked images of still ‘unofficial phone’. User DevDroid has posted these photos that are very clearly showing us the phone that is going to hit the markets in the near future. Its an Android powered device that would also have Sense UI.

For starters, the Incredible is set to boast a 3.5 to 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive display, which could also be AMOLED. Then it will get a Snapdragon processor with 256MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, and will run on the Android 2.1 OS with Sense UI.

Google has responded to Apple’s lawsuit against HTC by stating that they are with their partners i.e (HTC). This lawsuit can also be seen as Apple’s move to take down Android because many of the most successful Android phones are produced by HTC and they are working on many others for future, Google’s backing up of HTC in this case is understood.

This is what Google has said about this issue by mailing to TechCrunch.

“We are not a party to this lawsuit. However, we stand behind our Android operating system and the partners who have helped us to develop it.”

With Nokia, Apple merely counter-sued, to go on the attack against HTC has led to speculation that, because of Google, it’s personal because Google is a bigger enemy for Apple and we know that.

There are reports that the lawsuit was filed one month to the day after Google enabled multitouch on the Nexus One, which was 6 months after Eric Schmidt resigned from the Apple board.
