There have been reports and complaints about the working of wifi on HTC Evo 4G, so guys at AndroidCentral have performed a little test to find out what’s the difference between the wifi speed and coverage of Droid, Nexus One and Evo 4G. They have used Wifi Analyzer app that is available in the Android Market. Check out what they found out by performing this test.

Looking at the above results clearly indicate that there is a big difference in the working of Wifi of the three discussed models. Apart from all other features Wifi of HTC Evo 4G has not impressed a lot of people and we can’t say that if it is a hardware issue or they can fix it with a software update. Only time will tell.

Yes its true, if  you are owner of a Google Phone i.e Nexus one than it’s a good news for you that you can record HD video from your phone. Nexus One has been hacked by XDA-Developers to record video in High definition (720p). Hackers have hacked the Nexus One and some how enable it to record HD videos, As it is done by hackers so it is not official. As we all know that hardware of the Nexus One is among the best Android phones that are available up to date and it is very much capable of recording  HD videos.

Android 2.2 Froyo is all over the place and with its exciting new features its an update that is must for everyone to perform. If you have a Nexus One phone with either a root on the stock Android 2.1, or with the HTC Desire ROM then you can use this short guide to load your phone with the goodness of Android 2.2 Froyo.

Firstly what you need is

An unlocked bootloader

Root access on your Nexus One.

And lastly you need the patched recovery-RA-nexus-v1.5.3.img recovery on your N1.

Step 1: Download the rooted Android 2.2 Froyo Download and copy it to over to the root of the SD card on the phone.

Step 2:Power off the phone and enter the recovery image by powering on while pressing the ‘Home’ trackball.

select “BOOTLOADER” –> “RECOVERY”

Step 3: Now you will be rebooted into custom RA recovery mode. Select ‘Backup/Restore’ from the menu to do a Nandroid backup.

Step 4: Now select “Flash zip from sdcard” to flash your Nexus One with this latest (already) rooted Android 2.2 Froyo FRF50 ROM.

Step 5: Do a complete wipe by selecting the “Wipe” option.

Step 6: Reboot your phone! , you now have the rooted Android 2.2 ROM on your Nexus One!

The Nexus One performs perfectly fine when used for pinch zoom implementations, but it struggles in other situations. When two fingers are placed close to each other or they cross the same axix, the data points get flipped. This is a major problem for games that use multitouch and I have experienced them first hand with Polarbit games like ToonWarz.

When same tasks were performed on Motorola Droid, they found nothing wrong with it. Droid performed as it should but Nexus One has to experiance some bugs on it.

“Sorry I meant exactly what I said: this is how the touch screen hardware on the Nexus One works (which is essentially the same screen as on the G1 and myTouch).  The Droid has a sensor from a different manufacturer, with different behavior.  Other phones will likewise have different sensors.”

Above is the statement by Dianna Hackborn, a Google engineer, who posted the above response on the official Android Developers group.

Jeremy Sikora at AndroidCentral Forum has posted a very useful and easy guide to help you in installing custom ROMs onto your Nexus One phone. Its an easy guide that would be even useful for a beginner. I am posting the text from the original post here as it is you can read it here or can see it at the forum on writer’s original thread, but before you start want to warn you to be careful and don’t try this if you don’t have sufficient knowledge about it as it could result badly for your data, warranty and keep it in mind that this procedure can not be undone once performed.

So lets get started here
Unlocking the Bootloader

1.) Make sure your device is off. With your device connected to your computer enter fastboot mode by pressing the power button down while holding down the trackball.

2.) Now download and extract fastboot to your desktop.

3.) Windows Users: Enter bootloader mode by opening a command prompt and browse to the directory containing the fastboot files that you just extracted to your desktop, then type fastboot-windows oem unlock [Enter]

Mac Users: Enter bootloader mode by opening a terminal window and browse to the directory containing the fastboot files that you just extracted to your desktop. Assuming you extracted fastboot to your desktop, then Terminal commands to get to folder are as follows: cd ~/desktop/fastboot [Enter], then type ./fastbook-mac oem unlock [Enter]

Your bootloader is now unlocked.

Rooting your Nexus One

1.) Now we will gain root access to your device. Download this Superboot.zip file and extract it to a new folder on your desktop.

2.) Put your device back into fastboot mode as you did in step 1 of unlocking your bootloader.

3.) Windows Users: Double-click the install-superboot-windows.bat from within the new Superboot directory on your desktop.

Mac Users: While in the directory of 1.1-nexusone-superboot on your desktop type the following: chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh [Enter] Then type ./install-superboot-mac.sh [Enter]

Bingo, your Nexus One is now “rooted”…

Flashing the RA-Nexus Recovery Image [1.6.2] to your Nexus One

1.) First thing you need to do is download Amon_RA’s latest recovery image. As of writing this it is v1.6.2.

2.) Now you need to place that file into the root of your 1.1-nexusone-superboot directory that should still be on your desktop from the steps above.

3.) Now with your device off, connect it to you computer.

4.) Boot your device into fastboot mode by holding the power button down while holding the volume rocker down. Then press the power button down to select fastboot usb selected.

5.) Windows users: Launch the Command Prompt and change directories to 1.1-nexusone-superboot folder. Type the following: fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img and hit enter.

Mac users: Launch the Terminal and change your directory to 1.1-nexusone-superboot folder on your desktop. Type the following: ./fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img and hit enter.

The 1.6.2 recovery image is now loaded onto your Nexus One.

You are now ready to do a Nandroid Backup and install a custom ROM of your choice.

1.) With your device powered off hold down on the volume down rocker while pressing the power button. From there select “recovery”.

2.) Once in recovery select backup/restore and choose Nand backup.

When that is completed you now have a backup image saved on your SD card in case you ever need to go back to the normal ROM.

3.) Now from the recovery menu select Wipe and then Wipe data/factory reset.

4.) Once the wipe is completed select Flash zip from sdcard to select the ROM you wish to install.

5.) Once the flashing process is completed simply reboot and enjoy your freshly flashed Nexus One!

Google has been releasing the documentaries featuring the making of Nexus One from last 3 days, they have released four of them up till now of which we have already posted the three and the fourth one is here for you. Approximately a month ago Google released its official Android powered phone named Nexus One, the phone is manufactured by HTC and has gained a lot of popularity since its release but a problem is that it has not got that much of sales that are expected from this kind of a phone. So Guys at Google might have came to its rescue by releasing some short films on their Youtube channel telling the world how this phone was produced and what were the stages it was passed through before becoming what it is today. They are reported to be releasing 5 such videos of which they released the first one on 4th February and the second one on 5th, both of them are posted below. HTC.com has been updated with the new phones announced by HTC. The site has been redesigned to give room to the new phones namely HTC Smart that has been just announced and HTC Nexus One has also got its space in its manufacturer’s site These phones have replaced HD2 that remained their for three months. So now we have confirmation of the HTC Smart (and you can access its own webpage inside HTC.com for features, specs and pictures)

Nexus One Aka Nexus one has officially been announced in an event by Google. The phone was kept a secret before its leaked images and other details appeared but still we heard no word from Google but now they have finally revealed it in front of the world.
